Design Can Change the World
I found the Design Roadshow to be both thought-provoking and fascinating. I was eager to learn more about the project as well as the designers, but was unable to attend the artist talk due to having class. The one object that blew my mind were the adjustable prescription glasses. I thought this was a wonderfully genius idea that would allow for those in third-world countries to be able to correct their own eyesight without seeing a doctor. I was surprised to see how many objects in the bus I already had at home. These objects are so common in my house, but seeing them in the show made me think more about why they are such good examples of design. It gives me hope that designers are making a more unified effort to create good design that is available for the masses, because sometimes the people that need it most are the people who do not have the means to obtain it.
