"Beautiful Losers" makes me wish that I could just go and paint for a living. Seeing the artwork of the many different artists in this documentary is truly inspiring. This film pictured so much of the work of the artists that spoke; all of the pieces are truly unique. I aspire to be the kind of artist that can earn a living as a designer, while still maintaining the creativity level for art outside my profession that I have held since I was a child. I, too, have noticed that creativity is often no longer encouraged once you pass the age of ten, or sometimes even younger. Making art for the sake of making art is something that is gratifying for anyone, and no one has the right to discourage it. The love of creating is what brought this group of creative people together in "Beautiful Losers." Each one of these artists were quirky and often hilarious. It brings me relief to know that there are others that still encourage creativity at any age, even if it is not considered "aesthetically pleasing" to some others. Saturday, March 6, 2010
